terminating a contractor
An individual is an independent contractor if the payer has the right to control or direct only the result of the work, not what will be done and how it will be done. Hiring a general contractor to renovate and produce your dream home seems exciting until they produce late or use poor workmanship. At this point of frustration, you may want to immediately fire them, but first, you should understand whether doing so will put you in breach of contract or open you up to liability.
